"Bheemla Nayak" the Telugu remake of Malayalam blockbuster- "Ayyapum Koshiyan" released on 25 Feb, 2022 to blockbuster openings & reviews from critics.
'Bheemla Nayak' a sure-shot commercial entertainer- "Explosive Stuff Warning"!!
3.5/5
01. First of everything, is BN an apt justification to the remake AK?
My answer is- "Yes"!! no where the plot has been diluted in comparison to original, but there are lot of add on' & that is a plus to the movie according to me. They included a flashback to Pawan Kalyan & brought in a emotional touch to the climax of the film, which too worked well.
02. What actually is BN?
An aggressive fight between ego & self-respect disguised as persons. Somebody who has watched AK would not have a problem watching this film, because there aren't many deviations but two or more add on'. So, the plot revolves all around two characters- "Bheemla Nayak" & "Daniel Shekhar". Daniel is arrested by Bheemla for carrying alcohol from Telangana to Andhra in an alcohol free zone & that is where he creates a ruckus & the entire story is how each other revenge on each other from then.
03. About the character 'Bheemla Nayak'
Irrespective of comparisons, Pawan Kalyan is given a powerful character & he goes into the skin of character. I literally felt the thumping sound of explosives each time when Pawan was on the screen, that was the aura of the hero. Especially the lodge scene & pre-interval scene are examples to prove that Pawan Kalyan is really an actor of gem. This film explores the "Mass Shade" of Kalyan to an extent, all his fans might be celebrating as of now. Bheemla is a strict police officer who adheres to his principles & policies very strictly & once when forced to deviate the rules, the scene reverses & puts him in deep trouble & receives a suspension. Once the uniform is gone, he's a rebel & rest of the film is all about how that character goes through various phases.
04. What is Daniel Shekhar upto?
If Bheemla is sincere, dedicated & a man of ethics & principles but when out of the form would loose the temper & his form too. Same is with Daniel Shekhar, but this person is egoistic, arrogant & no wonder in telling that he can go to any extent to win against his own ego. But, the common point between both is that if when triggered they forget their senses & there arises behavioural issues with them.
05. What about the plot, story, screenplay & editing?
Do I have to talk anything,it's a remake & nothing much has changed- except few add ons', there's a link for the flashback & the climax, though not completely satisfying, yet not unbearable. Plot's pace keeps fluctuating, it's fast sometimes & the other times too slow. Screenplay was fine. Editing had few issues here & there, the VFX wasn't too excellent, few scenes were abruptly cut, here & there didn't gel with the pace of the film, especially the scenes before title song, in the jail were of lag & on a boring side.
06. How did the female leads perform?
Nithya Menon is irreplaceable, gets a meatier role & she's into the shoes. I think there isn't any need for any other choices in her place, she's perfect. Nithya too has got a powerful role & she's given few one-liners too, there's an attitude to her character, which is a rare feat to South Indian heroines. Nithya aces her role, loved her performance.
Samyuktha too gets a better role & screen space, but all her performance is left only towards the climax & another scene at the dining table, I think she should have been bit more active, she's on a gloomy side- however demanded by the character- but I think her acting should have been better, I didn't find appealing with her performance, with an exception to her climax scene.
07. Is there a scope for drama in BN?
Yes, the drama which is added on to BN gells well. Always there's a unique connection with sentimental or emotional scenes & Pawan Kalyan films. The climax scene & flashback scenes with extra dosage of drama too it, was fine but not extraordinary, they gave a new dimension to BN with drama, but diluted essence to a little of extent, a strict movie goer will easily term it as an intentional/repetitive elevation to the star hero.
08. How did the scenes b/w PK & Rana work out?
One word- "Explosive Stuff Warning". Each time both of them are on screen together, they give us spine chills. Maybe the fight wasn't physical all the time, sometimes verbal too- but all of those scenes were shot with dedication. PK is back to his vintage swag, mention his fans, but I'll say, this' a new PK in BN- he's damn furious & Powerful- unprecedented. All the power was in the interval scene & the lodge scene & can't deny the fact- they set the screens on 🔥. Rana too was powerful, his acting skills were of top notch- proves him as one of the bests.
09. BGM, songs & Thamman.
When Thamman at the helm, why should one worry about the BGM- & did have any word to speak about his toil. Every scene got a response of cheers & claps, only because of his BGM. Credits to Thamman.
Songs were of best quality, but 2-3 songs placed at wrong junctions or picturised badly. The title song wasn't good at all, neither the graphics, choreography or editing- nothing matched. Antha Ishtam was completely omitted, but felt like that song would have elevated the chemistry between Nithya & PK to a different level if there in the film. I think only Antha Ishtam song would have sounded like a whole song other than Title song if present in the Film, rest all songs were fillers or BGM kind songs, went with the flow.
10. Performance of other cast members
Murali Sharma needs a pat for his spell bounding performance. All the times he was there on the screen, he proves his worth. Rao Ramesh, Samuthirakani performances stand out other than the lead actors. Bramhanandam & Sunil get a cameo role, which can absolutely be avoided.
11. On the whole, how's the film & would I recommend it to you?
Yes! Absolutely yes! I loved the film & will definitely recommend it to audience. If you have to watch the film, for sure it's for Pawan Kalyan's performance, Trivikram's dialogues & the story.
12. Any minus or drawbacks?
Improper placement of the tile song, fews scenes abruptly edited, unwanted elevations, omitting Antha Ishtam song, no specific interventions during the scenes where Rana walks in the entire forest area, removal of the scenes which rise the grudge for each other- may they were small- but should have included them- coz they act as bridge to the climax scene in AK.
But on the whole, it's a mass masala entertainer- go watch it on screens.
