'Radhe Shyaam' A Perfect Reverie Love- Saga- Drama

3/5

01. "Radhe Shyaam & Pan-Indian movie"!! Did this cup-tie the statement.

Absolutely yes! I believe that Radhe Shyaam isn't a variety of a genre or a differently made film, but strikes a point for its effort & dedication. It's a simple love ballad with lot of colours & celebration. Come let's dive into faith the film.

02. What all Radhe Shyaam is upto?

Radhe Shyaam is a colourfully framed picture with lot of celebration, pomp & enthusiasm. It's an out & out love story with a subtle theme running all over. Do you all believe in fantasies, destiny, faith, astrology etc etc, This film is one of such-es. Entire film is only around two characters - The so called Einstein of palmistry - Vikram Adithya (Prabhas) & a surgeon cum doctor- Prerana (Pooja Hegde).

03. Plot of the movie.

Movie is all about these two characters meeting each other, falling in love & till the end are they successful in holding out against their relationship throughout ? Vikram Adithya the palmist is a person who believes that destiny is something that is affixed & cannot be changed, however - whatever - whatsoever! & The other character Prerana is a person who believes in science to an extent & is against love & destination. But, what the almighty has decided for them in store & did they really live through their relationship is something to watch for in the film.

Both of the characters strongly believe that destiny is something that cannot be changed at any cost. 99% of cases belive that destiny is powerful than will power. But a strong will power can give a chance to those 1% of people to change their destiny & rewrite their own faith. This film sums upto the above.

Adithya the palmist, predicts everyone's future & never his predictions went wrong. He has no love line on his palm & believes that his relationships cannot build love or atleast make love, so he only commits in flirtationship. Prerana the surgeon does believe in her destiny, afraid of future, death & is struck in her own aura & principles. But these two fall in love & any other detail from then would be a spoiler--- so watch the film to know further.

04. The character of Adithya & Prabhas as Adithya.

Adithya the palmist as Prabhas is a handsome guy making love everywhere & with everyone. He predicts future & his predictions never go wrong. Opens to the Sanchari song & is done brilliantly ofcourse, in course of time will explore Prerana & her magical world, eventually falls in love with her, contrary to his principle- "No love, Only flirtationship, coz he has no love line on his palm". Adithya is such a strong character in the film & the entire film is purely based on him. As the film progresses, Adithya discovers that all the time he isn't right, his predictions aren't always right, destiny needn't or cannot be the same all the time, it can be erased, rewritten & decided by own & rest is the plot of the film.

Prabhas as Adithya is a lovely fit, but felt like this character is just a different side of Prabhas & it is all about his guts to accept such a film in such a phase of career. I personally feel Prabhas has chosen the film as an attempt to showcase that he is a fluid artist & can fit into any charcter just like that. But, I feel needless, it can be given to someone who is good at looks & might express a much more. May be actors like Mahes Babu, Dulquer Salmaan, Hrithik Roshan or somebody else who can handle that top notch handsomely manliness & expressions would gel on well. But, yet Prabhas isn't a bad choice however.

Prabhas as Adithya hasn't justified entirely, but to an extent he's fine. His sober like charm doesn't impress however, his base of voice didn't gel well with those romantic dialogues, as said, this isn't a Prabhas kind film, that's the reason a lot of mixed reviews from critics, but nothing wrong with the plot or screenplay.

05. Pooja Hegde & Prerana

Pooja is just that Disney princess- she looks so beautiful throughout. She does the prerequisites. She's just brilliant. And the praises go on for her performance. She goes into the skin of the characterization, she is just that one person who aptly fits into the box. Every frame she was present, she impressed with her spellbound performance. She always carried that magical charm throughout.

Prerana the surgeon & a doctor firmly believes that science is one thing that helps human & not any astrology, palmistry etc would change the destiny or faith. But eventually she gains confidence on predictions as she falls for Adithya & how the story turns upside down is something to watch for in the film. Any other detail about her character is a spoiler, so go watch the film to learn the suspense.

06. What about all other characters ?

This film had no scope for any other characters to creep in, as the main leads do the entire courtesy. But few important characters come in randomly & their presence is valued to an extent as per the script.
Krishnam Raju as guru of Adithya, who enacts in a blind man's character is good enough & gets a meatier screen time. However Krishnam Raju couldn't bring in the required emotions as per the script but was fine, but could have been replaced by somebody else.
Jayaram gets a comical side on first half & a serious role in the next half & impresses with both the roles. He's a gem of an actor, no doubt & his character too forms an important link.
Jagapathi Babu gets a cameo kind role but is utilised for a purpose in the film & I felt that characterisation was fine & any other extensions to that character would lag the screen time.
Bhagyashree, yesteryear's sensation is back on screen, but as Prabhas' mom. She gets a good time on screen, all her frames evoke beauty but however she's wasted, neither she got any particular emotional or important scene to showcase her brilliance.
Legendary Waheeda Rahman, Priyadarshi & others get some minute roles & aren't noticeable.

07. Experience watching Radhe Shyaam.

The final expression on Radhe Shyaam is "AWE" for me though. There have been films on these templates of faith, destiny, love before in past, but there is always something left out to talk about everytime & this film too works on such concept & that is engaging however. The film opens to a retro themed frames in 1931- Italy & Rome as backdrops & every frame was jaw dropping. The rich visuals give an air of excitement & awesomeness on the whole. The train & ship scenes are somewhat of different level, though the ship scene is easily termed to be an inspiration from 'Titanic', but impressive! Such rare feats for Telugu cinema right!?, they are fantasies but aren't written in exaggeration. Every scene had a story & every frame was speaking something, at last my opinion is - this cannot be any better, it's at its best.

08. What about songs, music & BGM?

All the songs are composed for the backdrops perfectly & they fit in exactly. Justin does justice. Few clasical bits of flute songs will entertain the audience thoroughly, on a whole songs create a different atmosphere, but could have been better. Expected music like of Ilaiyaraaja or ARR for such a script.
Thamman is the backbone again, his background score is something for which the audience will hold on the movie. What can a good BGM do to an average or below average scene? And the answer is this film & these scores.  Thamman has elevated the scenes with his score. Great work by him.

09. Direction & Production.

A film made of good direction & production values. This cannot be any better, Radha Krishna has done justice to Radhe Shyaam.

10. Editing & cinematography.

Every frame appeared gold, rich & precious, the experience that it left on audiences is on a different note, all credits to the great cinematography & VFX team, who created a surreal environment to rightly showcase Italy backdrop & those train & ship scenes. Every frame was solid, crystal clear- showing impact every now & then. The cinematography added on to the screenplay.
Editing was ok, but could have been better. Few scenes were abruptly cut & the link is missing, not answered at all. The Indira Gandhi scene as an opening is absolutely a waste, no where again we get to see it's continuation & that's irritating.

11. What's actually good with RS ?

Script
Top notch visuals
Cinematography
Screenplay
BGM
Prerana
If you are a fan of fairy tales, fantasy films & all other exaggerations, than surely this is the film you all are waiting for. Pooja Hegde impresses thoroughly with her beauty.

12. Any minus & flaws with RS?

Prabhas as Adithya itself is a flaw, yet no blame on his performance, but he isn't a right fit.
Music could have been much more impactful & melodious. Hardly one or two songs will strike the chord & after the film they are forgotten too.
Irregular or abruptly cut scenes- Editing
Unnecessarily added comedy which evokes no laugh.
To an extent could have tried to reduce the fantasy in the script, to a logical thinker entire film appears senseless.

13. At last, did I like the film & am I recommending it to you all.

I enjoyed the film, it gave me a heavenly experience. Absolutely I'll recommend it to you all only & only if you are ok with the Hollywood style of taking & fusion of Indian traditional & fantasies.

At last one word about Radhe Shyaam- A perfect reverie love drama❤️
