' A Typical Black & White That Appears Colourful'

01. What is ‘Hi Nanna!’ Upto?

The new Telugu language film starring the ‘Natural Star’ Nani & sensational’ Mrunal Thaakur’ is directed by the debutant Shouryuv.

Hi Nanna is basically a film that strictly adheres to the title of the film, it is all about the beautiful relationship between a father- Viraj (Nani) & his daughter Mahi (Baby Kiara). The story unfolds between the father and daughter enjoying their cute little world but until both of them realise that some void still exists. That void is mother-ly feeling for Mahi & his best half for Viraj. Mahi keeps stressing Viraj to open up about her mother, but even after repeated sayings, Viraj is stubborn. The entry of Yashna (Mrunal Thakur) makes their confused lives better. How & why is something to watch for in the film.

The movie doesn't deviate much from the trailer cut at the same time has nothing pretty extraordinary apart from that to tell even.

02. What to long for in Hi Nanna?

Hi Nanna is basically a cool breeze kind movie with lot of warmth in it. It is actually the same old story of all 2000’s or late 90’s but presented in a little different context. It is all about beautiful emotions that make this movie a watchable one despite the plot offering nothing new at all.

Performances of all the lead cast is just top notch. Nani is tailor made for these kind roles & is also excellent especially in the emotional scenes like usual. Mrunal Thakur too has a soul & heart in her character & she brings it alive with her performance. Baby Kiara is just perfect as Mahi, her cute performance elevated the screen presence.

The romantic semi-classical scores & songs by Hesham Abdul Wahab except the 'Odiyamma' song is another plus for this fairytale kind movie. Technicalities are just good.

03. What actually went wrong with Hi Nanna?

The plot & content! Yes, you all read it right. This is a subject that is typically pigeon holed & repeated n-number of times by hundreds of directors. We have a couple who are not interested in love, marriage, kids & cycle, but still love blossoms between them, they'll have kids & are seperated by some accident & again meet for the sake of kids & end up making love. Isn't it the same story coming again & again in different forms from 20's?! So, basically Hi Nanna is that same old film, it offers nothing new.

The pace is a very big problem in this film. First half though gives an average vibe yet manages to pass & also has a memorable interval bang. But, the later half goes for a disappointment & slowly gets better towards the climax. At last you all will end up saying, this is the same old film & offers nothing much.

04. Final Verdict.

It's not a bad film though. It has feel good emotional connections, a good story, neat plot, great music, fine cinematography, solid performances & a warming soul, but the thing is, it is same old monotonous film with a predictable screenplay. Couple of twists will thrill us, but the impact is not much.

However, I liked the film, but from my side it's not a theatre watch. You can still wait for it to stream on OTT, but it's a go

od pastime movie if you are a movie goer.
