'A Jigsaw of Balancing Epictale & Suspense on One-Side & Blandness on Other Side'
01. Plot.
Harikatha - Sambhavaami Yuge Yuge is a suspense thriller series that concentrates on supernatural powers, epic references, mythology & above all a typical message. This series with actors listing from the veteran Rajendra Prasad to Sriram is a good blend of nice performances & concept but still lies on a bland side due to the lack of freshness in story backdrop.
Harikatha is all about a revenge story planned by a group of people in Araku village set back in 1980's. Series starts with a gruelling murder scene & has many such scenes to continue. With each gruesome murder people over there & audience here are excited but reasons are unknown. Some claim it to be supernatural, other claim it to be the almighty himself taking away the bad. In such situations the series unfolds & ends where we get an answer why those murders are happening. A 6 episode long series takes you into their world.
02. The concept of Harikatha.
The series emphasis on the theme " The lord himself comes onto the earth when the equality is dead to punish the evil & to protect the mankind by establishing peace ". It's not an unknown fact why the 10 avtaars of Lord Vishnu happened & what's the importance of each avataar. So, similarly here it's not just why about the lord has taken all those 10 forms but also to instill the almost dying righteousness, humility & generosity in one's life. The director very interestingly blends the concepts of plays, epics, mythology, hope into his concept & tries explaining this generation about all the 10 avatars of Vishnu also known as Dasavaatharam. Harikatha is a traditional discourse of telling epics (Purana) in a musical form & with method acting which has almost gone extinct nowadays, the director tries to rejuvenate such concepts once again through his series.
03. How far is the series fared?
Harikatha is just the same old revenge story for an blunder offence which has never seen the face of justice but comes in a new approach or avathaar. As of story, screenplay, taking it offers nothing new & top of it lacks freshness but the theme & concept make it a watchable one.
See, how many times whether we listen to Ramayana or Mahabharatham doesn't matter & how it's presented doesn't matter but the essence & it's preaching matters- similarly what's the story here doesn't matter when one wants this generation to understand the importance of hope that the lord will come when righteousness is falling apart & evil is taking up the world - he will for sure come to save the mankind say in whatever form, he has already done this in past many times is what the team is trying to tell & I don't find any wrongs here.
04. Performances & drawbacks.
Rajendra Prasad gaaru the veteran actor will never stop impressing the audience with whatever character he gets to act. He's a boon to TFI & we are never tired to see whatever he brings into his store. May him continue to entertain us with many more flicks like this. Sriram, Divi, Arjun Ambati & many others get some roles & screen presence & all of them shine respectively. Special mention to Sriram.
The series has got a very old outdated revenge story for a very sympathetic backdrop. We cannot stay stone hearted while watching the series but still will'nt give that level of emotional connection as we already saw these in many other movies previously. If not for the theme nor concept of Harikatha this is really a waste as it appears to bland. Only after 3 episodes of after the flashback only the series turns interesting. However those too gruelling murder sequences where not required to be that violently shot in my opinion, like all the blood is just for the same of hype otherwise not necessarily needed.
05. Overall -?
Finally, it's not a great series but I'll vote for it as it talks about the importance of righteousness, equality, humanity in all human beings & strongly emphasis that the lord is gonna come to teach a lesson to all those who stand away from the line of dharma. It also brings in the concepts that are already on an extinction mode like that of Harikatha, Poem (పద్యాలు), వాయిద్యాలు (musical instruments), stage acting, language & epics/mythology (Purana) references & revives them through the series.
It's a one time must watch suggestion for all. A good one though.
