Too Much Fictional, Very Artificial & Outdated
01. All about HHVM in a glimpse.
HHVM Part:1 is a completely fictional story developed by the team to bring in a character called Hari Hara Veera Mallu who's a theif by profession, the Jewel Theif and does all that mischief in the first part and as the story begans to heat up we are introduced to the ultimate purpose or the back story of Veera is that to be a saviour of the Sanathana Dharma which is being desolated by that cruel ruler Aurangazeb- the Mughal emperor of 17th century & to establish a permanent safe place to the Dharma and safeguard the people following the Dharma. In short & big this is the entire plot of the film & how did the film execute is what you have to watch for.
02. What's that actually HHVM trying to say.
Though the periodic film starting with a very different plot and screenplay of Veera being a Jewel Theif initially & on a purpose to steal Kohinoor but as the film progresses towards the pre climax we learn that Veera Mallu's goal is not to be a robinhood but a Santhana Dharma saviour. This is the whole and sole purpose of the film but there were many insecurities the film unit had to overcome to put this sensitive topic in front of audience without making the star hero's presence too controversial & this is where the film terribly fails in execution. They have to talk about Santhana Dharma but not hurt feelings of other religions, they have to show the actual zeal of Veera's character being the legend saviour of Dharma but not put much pressure on Pawan Kalyan's political career as he's someone doing that offscreen and film's unit wanted to be neutral & not be the direct torch bearer for his offline ambitions & finally make it a Power Star's film to his fans. All these elements combinedly ruined the film's output.
03. What literally went wrong with the film?
As discussed the above points definitely instilled so much pressure on the film's unit and that's truly evident in the picture. Secondly they had so much in their thoughts and execution plan but nothing worked for the team & unfortunately not even Power Star's presence. They had too much of reminiscing and influences drawn from periodic pictures, especially from Baahubali in the intro and RRR at the climax but finally they failed drastically. Above all the worst part is the VFX & CG- which were cringe worthy & deserves a strong facepalm. Am surprised how even the film passed final quality checks with this amazing quality of CG & VFX!!? Can't believe this is Pawan's film!
Budget could be an issue but that was too much evident in every frame of the film & it's a sheer disappointment to all Pawan Kalyan's fans. No one could even have dreamt that film degrades to such a level. Even without expectations this film gives you instant boredom & cringey vibes. Entire first half is tossed for the second half & execution is staked at the rate of embarrassment and degradation.
04. Performances and technicalities?
Pawan Kalyan as HHVM is a good fit but poor hero hasn't got any time or interest in the movie which made it more miserable. We all know what Power Star's movies to TFI mean, but this could be the first movie from him that could go for an outright rejection even from his hardcore fans. There were dubbing issues in many places & the lame VFX made it much more un-interesting & cheesy at places. There were frames where we saw Pawan's face in complete outsync with the body as if like a meme material & that's too hard to watch.
Rest others get some roles that they were asked to enact that's it & need no special mention at all. Nidhi does some justice while other characters are there just for sake of existence.
Music & BGM by MMK is the only saviour in the entire film but still doesn't get a pass mark as the songs fall out of place & are of really not that great quality which we expect from the legend usually. Editing & cinematography are best only on how less we discuss about them. Screenplay, CG team, direction all hand in hand sail the ship towards an utter failure.
05. Finally
HHVM has a good concept & we cannot deny the fact how Hindutatva or people following Sanathana Dharma are tortured & tormented in Aurangazeb's reign- we all wanted one such rager or hero like Veera in the film to show what actually is Sanathana Dharma to us, but still still still the film fails in execution - it's a lot more about the artificial VFX, illogical action sequences & too much of artificiality which make the film sink deep in waters.
My recommendation - is a STRICT NO! I didn't like the film honestly. It doesn't even qualify for an OTT watch. Dunno how the film made to the final cut - it's bits & pieces of cheesy sequences all put together. At the end you even forget that Pawan Kalyan has enacted this film, such awkward is the film.
