“Strong story roots, but withered in execution – a familiar tale told without freshness.”
01. All about Kingdom movie.
Set in the early 1990s, Soori (Vijay Deverakonda) is a constable in search of his missing brother, Shiva (Satya Dev). He comes to know that Shiva is in Sri Lanka, involved in smuggling activities, and leading a team. Soori is then appointed as an undercover agent to track his brother and uncover the cartel’s operations. As he infiltrates the gang, Soori reaches his brother and becomes one among them. The rest of the story revolves around whether Shiva realises who his brother truly is, what Soori’s purpose there is, and whether the two will join hands or stand against each other.
02. Plus points in the film.
This is a film which from frame-01 itself the story is very right on track & continuously delivering some content without any deviations or lags. The screenplay is spot on & gets all the ducks in row while executing the script. All the characters perform to tee making it a perfect story oriented film rather than any other commercial or fictional movie.
Satyadev as Shiva & Venkitesh as Murugan are way too perfect & they are really amazing through our the film in their respective roles. Though both the characters are underutilized in the film- there is a very well written emotional bonding between the both brothers - Soori & Shiva, but the later gets a bit less chance to showcase his depth in the character. He's left just stubborn & cold blooded yet generously loving brother - but still that character is not given that chance to portray the emotional depth in the film.
Venkitesh as Murugan is already winning hearts & yes he has done full justice to the film. But again this character is also not utilised to the fullest.
03. What didn't go well or didn't gel so much with the context of the film
Film starts with some GOT kind context, but suddenly turns into a normal 'On-Mission Hero fighting emotional outbreaks & duties'. Neither the film is a very unique presentation nor a completely new concept, as already such stories and films exist. Execution is a very big blow, it doesn't have a fixed path- it goes to all places but fails to find a definite path to set the story on tracks.
Vijay Devarakonda as Soori is given a very good character to play, but he's the same old younger generation sensational hero who struggles to deliver a very promising performance with dialogues or actions, he's good but not excellent is my complaint. Bhagyasri Bhorse has got a very forgettable role & needs no discussion too.
04. Technical Departments?
Cinematography is good, music by Anirudh Ravichandran is as per the requirement - he does all good. Editing needs some fixes.
05. Finally?
It's a 'Watchable- Mediocre' film but still it's a great watch for the subtlety in serious context. Overall it's a good film suiting for a weekend watch. TFI evolving & bringing in some serious films with straight away content & no unnecessary commercial elements is making the movie goers much more happy.
